Chili Winter Warm-Up Recap

Hey there,

Well, we had a rollicking good time at the Chili WInter Warm-Up at the Danbury Ice Arena on Sunday.  Danbury area newspapers reported that between1500 to 2000 people attended the event: NEWS-TIMES: Chili recipes pack surprises

I got underway at 1:00pm and kept the music upbeat throughout my 90-minute set.  Since proceeds from the event went to a variety of charitable organizations in the city of Danbury (including the Danbury Westerners), I played ALL of my Danbury-inspired songs.  These included the popular Danbury Fair which reached a milestone of 12,000 views on YouTube last week as well as The Danbury Westerners Theme and Drivin' At The Racearena.  Westy, the mascot of the Danbury Westerners did a nice dance routine while I played their theme song and premiered my new musical instrument - a kazoo!  My new song about the Danbury Racearena was also well received.  All in all, it was a fun afternoon!

A BIG thanks goes out to Carol, Stephanie, Bob and Joe who were all a big help to me throughout the day.

I've posted some photos from the event for you to enjoy on the Photos page.

I may be posting some video from the event as well, so stop back in a day or two...

My next gig will be at Rosy Tomorrows in Danbury, CT on March 11th.  Details are on the Performances page.

Until next time...

Peace.

Ice Ice Baby!

Hey there,

It was a good time performing at Rosy Tomorrows on Sunday night.  There was a nice turnout of old and new friends.  Thanks to Carol, Stephanie, Caroline, Tom and Joanne for coming out!  You can see some photos from the evening on the Photos page.

This coming weekend, I will be performing at the Chili Winter Warm-Up at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, CT.  This is a fundraising event for the Danbury Westerners baseball team and other community organizations.  I will be performing from 1:00pm to 2:30pm.  In addition to myself, there will be other performers, chili tasting, ice skating and other activities.  It should be a fun afternoon!  Details are on the Performances page.  Click here to read an article from the Danbury Patch.

Work continues on my new Drivin' At The Racearena song and I hope to have it finished soon.

I hope to see you on Sunday...!

Peace,

Dave

Rosy Tomorrows on Sunday night!

Hey there,

I haven't actually played a gig since New Year's Day so I'm looking forward to returning to Rosy Tomorrows this weekend!

I will be there on Sunday night beginning at 6:00pm.

As usual, the details are on the Performances page.

I've been making good progress on the recording of my latest song, Drivin' At The Racearena.  Everything is recorded and I have moved on to the mixing stage.  It's coming out great and I think you (and especially racing fans) will really enjoy it!  I recently posted some photos from the sessions on the Photos page if you'd like to take a look.

On February 19th, I will be performing at the annual Winter Chili Cook-Off held at the Danbury Ice Arena.  It's a fund-raising event for the Danbury Westerners baseball team and other local organizations.  It's a fun-filled day with music provided by me and others!  Read the article from the Danbury Patch for more info.

Lotsa fun stuff coming up!

I hope to see you at Rosy's on Sunday!

Peace,

Dave

Hunkering Down

Hey there,

Well, it's January which is when I usually take a little time off from gigging and work on other things such as recording.

I've been working away on recording tracks for my latest song, Drivin' At The Racearena.  I premiered the acoustic version of it at the Southern New York Racing Association Reunion last September.  The song went over very well (as can be seen in the video on the Video page) and now I'm working on the full-blown recorded version with full instrumentation.  I plan for it to be a rockin' tune and so far the instrumentation includes drums, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, piano, organ and some sax thrown in for good measure.  I think I have all of the various parts recorded at this point, but need to review some of them to make sure they're all "keepers".  Once that's done, I'll start work on mixing the song into its finished version.  I'm really looking forward to hearing the final product and hope you are too!

I just posted a couple of photos on the Photos page from a recent session when I was recording acoustic guitar for the song...

Not to get too geeky, but I'm also working on upgrading my recording software to the latest version of Sonar which is called X1.  In order to do this, I had to upgrade my computer operating system from Windows XP Service Pack 2 to Service Pack 3.  Sounds like it should be simple enough, but typically it took a lot longer and was much more involved than I had anticipated.  I'm waiting to make sure everything is running smoothly on the PC before I install Sonar X1 (hopefully this weekend).  Then... it will be new and improved!

My next gig is at Rosy Tomorrows in Danbury, CT on February 12th.  Details are on the Performances page.

I also added a couple of other upcoming performances which should be fun including the Winter Chili Cook-Off at the Danbury Ice Arena and the Locally Grown Artist series at the Danbury Museum and Historical Society.  More details on these events will be coming in future posts as they develop.

That's it for now.  Hope you're doing well!  Now, back to the studio...
