However, it was certainly a bittersweet event. &nbsp;In one way, it was a celebration of my music and new CD, &nbsp;In another, it was a day of mourning of the tragic events that took place in nearby Newtown, CT the day before. I started out the performance with my song, We're Gonna get Past The Bad Stuff from my Shades of Dave CD because as I explained, it felt like 9/11 all over again. Such an atrocity commited by such an evil person is very difficult to wrap your head around. Nevertheless, things will eventually get better and we will get past the bad stuff. Local historian Bill Devlin and myself gave the presentation to an enthusiastic crowd who shared their fond memories of the fair as well. Bill presented the history of the fair and I performed my songs, Danbury Fair and Drivin' At The Racearena which both pay tribute to the days of the fair and the Racearena race track which was located on the fairgrounds. The event was held to coincide with what was traditionally Fair Week. &nbsp;The Danbury Fair kicked off annually on Columbus Day weekend until it ended in 1981.
